This G2 under WFA conditions was won easily by Concert Hall that raced seventh the outer then swept up wide to be an ominous fourth turning for home then she powered on past at the 200m The 6yo mare won by two and a half lengths and clocked 1:36.69 for the mile as a clear favourite. The winners and where they turned for home in race order were led (on the fence by half a length), led (one-off by half a length), fourth (four-off the fence and two lengths from the leader), eighth (four-off the fence and two and a half lengths from the leader), third (four-off the inside and four lengths from the leader), ninth (three-off the inside and four lengths from the leader), fourth (seven-wide and two lengths from the leader), third (four-off the inside and length and a half from the leader) and tenth (four-off the inside and four lengths from the leader). Four of the winners either led on the home turn or were third turning in and two more of the winners turned for home fourth, so the on pace bias that almost always is prevalent at this track held sway for most of the day. The biggest margins made up all day to win were four lengths turning for home. Concert Hall was today winning her eighth event in twenty-one starts and with an ounce of luck she could be undefeated in three outings this season after winning a G3 prior to today. So she now has a G2 win today to go with three at G3, so will be looking for a G1 kill this season for sure from now on. She has tried it once before for a luckless eighth in the G1 fillies and mares only mile at Te Aroha in April on 2019. This mare has run second three times and never finished third but has four fourths in her record and three of those have come at G3 as well. Second home today was Sinarahma and the Central Districts invader got home hard from the rear duo on settling and turned for home seventh closer in. The also 6yo mare unleashed hard once angled the second widest and found second with a big burst the final 20m. Siracusa ran a game third beaten just over two and a half lengths at just her ninth outing after racing in the rear duo too but coming eighth and widest turning for home. The 4yo mare, which ran a clear second favourite in this, has not run a poor race and she has scope galore. Demonetization started fourth favourite and after being very wide in the lead early got over second the outer and fought well the run hone for fourth beaten three lengths. Hay Tiger third up ran fifth beaten just over three lengths after trailing the leaders on the inner to the home turn. He was second at Listed level fresh up and now this effort so is racing well. Sixth home was the evergreen Watch This Space that raced sixth the inner then was worked off wide near the home turn. The 9yo fought on to finish sixth and was beaten just under three and a half lengths. There was a gap of over eight lengths back to seventh in the form of Lavaglo, a three-win 4yo mare that worked wide to lead after 400m then punctured the run home once headed at the 300m. El Nymph was totally outclassed when finishing eighth beaten over thirteen lengths and the one-win 4yo mare struggled from a handy sit the outer between runners. Last home again was True Enough, which ran third favourite, and he has become an issue now after not missing the top three for better than two seasons in a row. He has suddenly become poor and the 7yo gelding has run dead last in both runs this time in showing no fight whatsoever and today was beaten fifteen and a half lengths. Something is not right with this gelding that from December of 2018 never missed the top three in fourteen runs in a row and in that period captured a G1, a G2 and a G3 and placed at G1 three times and G2 once. The winner was panels superior today while the runner up rediscovered her best form for the first time this season. The third finisher Siracusa is the name to go ahead leaps and bounds next year as she is doing this on a limited preparation.
