Mitch Ebeyer's Thursday Focus at Albion Park (11/07)

After last weeks Brisbane Cup Card it’s hard to expect racing to live up to the standards week in week out but tonight, yes it’s a 10 race program but after picking apart the meeting it seems a better punting proposition than last week despite the massive class drop.

10 races, varying distances of 520m to 600m and some quality fields even if not full fields. The first kicks off at 6:41pm and the last, race 10 scheduled for 9:57pm. I’m confident and that’s a concern, we will either blow them apart or get blown away! Let’s go!

BEST BETS

R7 N2 TARAWI MAGIC

Beautiful draw and down In class makes for a great recipe to win. Big run two starts back against the top echelon of hounds and held his own in the process. Record at the track is poor, 19 starts for 1 win and 3 minors but holds an 18% win record over 520m plus strikes at greater than 30% off draws 1-3. Keen as mustard with the map, main danger and race favourite likes to use the track and pushes off giving us clean air early. $4.60 is staggering and will start $3 or shorter.

R8 N6 TRAPPER TEARS

Monster run last week and drawn ideal tonight. Speed inside is ideal, providing they all step clean and chop at one another. Big danger the red who loves the inside and was a big run last start off the red. Expect to sit 4th past the post the first time and loop the field with great mid race pace. Each way considering the $1.85 place price.

VALUE BETS

R5 N7 SPRINGTIME GOLD

Love the draw, love the price and love the form of Springtime Gold. Box 7; 13 starts, 4 wins and 5 minors. $9 & $2.10 is staggering overs. Hasn’t finished any further back than 4th in her last 9 starts and has a perfect map for this race tonight. Speed in 2,3,4 and 6 set the tempo for us to position up, mad railers in 1-4 means room to burn once balanced and to cap it off, no speed in 8 which results in minimal pressure heading for the first turn. Keen as mustard!!

R9 N8 CLUSTER

Talk about dogs drawn well. A box 8 bandit and I tell you what, he’s back in form. The past 3 starts have been big behind elite company, still strikes class here but in a better position to strike than recent starts. 9 starts for 3 wins and 2 minors off box eight and in possibly the best kennel in Queensland. Has to step but a massive show if he can get around the first turn unscathed.
