Saturday best bets from Luke & Taggart (20/12)
By SENTrack
Cam Luke & David Taggart have your Saturday sorted on Trackside.
The lads have taken a close look at Caulfield Heath & Randwick in a bid to find the family some winners.
See their best bets below:👇

CAULFIELD HEATH
Race 2, No.2 - Wymark
Probably haven’t seen his best for a little while, but I think it sets up okay for him today. Draw nice so won’t be too far off them. 7 day back up in an easier BM 84 than last week, works after 5 weeks off previously. Up in trip also a plus! Favourite is way too short considering first time and question at 1800m. Nice speed map for Wymark will see him go very close!
Race 5, No.10 - Oman (Each-way)
Was better on debut than the stats show! Got ran off her feet early and then got going late. Cut off, over heels and attacked the line way better than it looks. Will improve from the race day experience, steps up to 1100m which I think helps, has jumped out well since! She’s a great each-way play at $13.
Race 6, No.4 - Rue De Royale
Got tired late resuming after having to work hard early but he is always better second-up anyway! Good track doesn’t hurt and don’t read a thing into the 1200m 0-5 as in way better races than this! Can stalk the speed and the 2kg claim helps! He is better than these and proves it today!
Race 10, No.1 - Gracie's Rain
Drawn a little awkwardly but no major speed should ensure this young apprentice using the 3 kg claim can get this girl to the fence. She is unbeaten third-up, the soft track was her undoing at Ballarat. No problem with that today and I think in total control of this race, she is my absolute best part of the day.
RANDWICK
Race 5, No.10 - Willie Oppa
Third-up to a mile this prep is absolutely perfect. He’s drawn a little awkwardly but he’s a get back horse as it is. The bigger track of Randwick is also going to suit him. Again, outside of Viktor there’s not a huge amount of speed, but he’s drawn wide so hoping it organically puts a little speed into the race. If that happens it will allow this bloke to run home hard as he has done both runs this prep and be hard to hold out!
Race 6, No.3 - King Pedro
Has been building towards the 2400m with 3 straight 2000m runs and finally gets back here for the first time since the New Zealand Derby where he ran pretty well. Not a major amount of speed with the scratching of Claim The Crown, so from that tricky gate Gibbons wouldn’t want to get too far back but as long as he has a backside, he can work into the race and be the one the beat late!
Race 9, No.6 - Amplify (Each-way)
Obviously going to need further to show her best form but she has trialled well and the good track is a big plus. She ran really well in the bracelet and then in the oaks and she’s classier than most of these. There is a little bit of speed engaged so she’ll be out the back, but she’ll come hustling home and she no doubt is over the odds of $20 and great each-way play.

CAULFIELD HEATH
Race 3, No.13 - Indian Jewel (Value)
Indian Jewel was good first-up beaten by her stablemate Knobelas. Second-up form is good, this is her pet trip and she’s won over the course. Will get back from the gate and watch for her late. Great each-way play.
RANDWICK
Race 5, No.2 - Covert Thinking (Value)
Covert Thinking isn’t the worst here second-up and with the step up to the mile which she’s 3/3. Was good first-up in a strong race and she will find this easier. Great each-way play.
Race 6, No.1 - Belle Detelle (Value)
Belle Detelle was disappointing as favourite last start, but she was on the back up so deserves another chance especially at the each-way price. Has been beaten both times she raced over this trip, but they were in G1s as a 3yo last season.
Race 7, No.2 - Zealously (Best)
Zealously drops into a very winnable race and will get every chance from pole as Sherry will have options whether he leads or box seats. Was 6 weeks between runs last start and he should be ready to fire here.
Race 9, No.1 - Island Dream (Value)
Island Dream rattled home first-up after getting a long way back from a bad gate. Draws much better here, gets the huge claim for Sienna and she’s undefeated second up and over this trip. Well worth a throw at the stumps.
