"Thrilled": Baker reacts to Warwoven's barrier draw for 2YO Classic

The Bjorn Baker-trained Warwoven is currently the $1.85 favourite with Sportsbet to win the Magic Millions 2YO Classic.

The gun colt has been in pristine form leading into this $3 million race, winning both his two career starts.

The bay by Sword Of State won his debut start across 1000m by 2.3 lengths and his most recent race by 3.3 lengths across 1200m.

Now into his Grand Final, Baker is more than happy with Warwoven drawing barrier 6 for the Magic Millions 2YO Classic.

“We're absolutely thrilled, (it’s) very exciting,” Baker told SENTrack & RSN.

“Barrier 6 is really good, hey. I think it's an ideal gate for him, gate 6.

“He might get in one gate to gate 5 (with a scratching).

“I think he's got the temperament and the speed early to put himself right there.”

The heavy favourite isn’t Baker’s only runner that he has in the race though – he also has Masvingo.

That filly is currently a huge outsider at $35, but she has some decent form.

While the daughter of Zoustar hasn’t won a race yet, she has placed in all three of her starts, and Baker believes the bay is a puncher's chance from a tricky barrier (12).

“I don't think Masvingo's completely out of the race, she's been going really well,” Baker admitted.

“Bit of an awkward gate, but she's gonna get back if they overdo it up front.

“With the blinkers on, hopefully she can hit the line hard.”

Warwoven will be ridden by Rachel King in the $3 million race, while Masvingo will be jockeyed by Jason Collett.
