The AFL world is wrapping its arms around Jordan Dawson and his family following the tragic news that the brother of the Adelaide Crows captain had been found dead on Wednesday.

Jaryd Dawson, Jordan's older brother, had been missing since the early afternoon on Tuesday with his body later found by emergency services after a frantic search.

Jaryd's wife Jessica Carter had issued an urgent appeal across social media on Wednesday asking for information from anyone that had seen or heard from the 35-year-old.

The tragic update was confirmed on Wednesday evening.

"The last photo I took of my two boys, just two days prior," Carter wrote in tribute to her husband. "I was feeling so incredibly rich in life. Now my heart is shattered into a million pieces.

"Huddy and I will love you and miss you forever and ever and ever."

Jordan was not at Crows training on Wednesday with coach Matthew Nicks saying: “Dawson won’t train unfortunately for personal reasons.”

A statement from South Australia police on Wednesday said they were preparing a report for the coroner after the “sudden death of a man in the state’s South East”.

“There are no suspicious circumstances. We ask that you respect the family’s privacy at this time,” the statement said.

The West Coast Eagles were among the many to send their condolences. "We are sending our deepest condolences and support to Adelaide captain Jordan Dawson and his family after the tragic passing of his brother Jaryd," the club wrote.

Discussing the side's clash with St Kilda this weekend, SEN's Mark Bickley said: "We are desperately sad for what Dawson is going through. It will be a challenge for the whole side.

"When you are as close as you get as a team, when you see something like this happen and the impact it has on a family. It's hard to get fired up about a game.

"The perspective part of this says 'this game is important but is it really important when you see what our mate is going through'.

It's a real mental challenge for the team after such a tragic even in Jordan's life. Every player will deal with those emotion differently."
