Deja Blue: Punters capitalising on Carlton woes

By SEN

Carlton's grim season has presented opportunities for Betfair punters to capitalise.

Carlton have recorded just one victory this season, yet they have firmed to shorter than their last traded pre-play price in all eight matches they've played. Amazingly, they have traded favourite after half time in six of those eight games.

The trend began in Round Zero when the Blues firmed from their last traded price of $3.50 into favouritism when leading by 22 points just after half time. Sydney responded with 12 goals in the third term and would win by 63 points.

Carlton hung on in Round One after a second half fade out against Richmond, but that's where the relief ended.

43 points up on Melbourne, and into $1.08 in Round 2, they would get run down.

Good Friday followed, and a 28 point final term lead v North, into $1.09. They lost again.

Three goals up on their arch rivals, Collingwood, at 3QT in Round Six. $1.24 and beaten again.

15 points up on the Saints in the third term of Round Eight. Amazingly into $1.50, and belted by 39.

Even their two interstate trips where they traded at at long odds before the first ball up ($5.60 v Adelaide and $8 v Fremantle) were games where they started well and subsequently firmed.

Five goals up on the Crows and into $3.15, and into $5.60 v Fremantle. Two more losses.

Interestingly, and often the case at Betfair, the market has begun to work it out. A 28 point lead in the final term would see most teams trade closer to $1.01. Not Carton though, as punters rightly treaded with caution.

They've traded below their last traded pre-play price in EVERY game this season.

Take advantage with Betfair by asking for prices and keeping in-play to trade out of pre game positions.
