Dwayne Russell's flag seedings: Which side takes No. 1 spot?
By SEN
We’re a third of the way through the AFL season.
And with that in mind, Dwayne Russell has named his top 10 premiership contenders in 2026.
See who makes the cut below.
1. Brisbane
“I've still got Brisbane (at) No. 1,” he told SEN’s Dwayne’s World.
“The team still to beat this year, and Brisbane just sail along.
“They're still the reliable commodity when it comes to September, as long as they don't lose players, but that's the case with every team.
2. Fremantle
3. Sydney
“There was something about Sydney last week against Melbourne that just didn't convince me.
“Sydney's going pretty well.
“This forward handball game is great, but I think other teams will start to get a bit of a method of shutting it down.
“I think Melbourne did pretty well last week, denying them the corridor.
4. Hawthorn
5. Geelong
“I've still got the Cats at five because I think they're more reliable than the Gold Coast.
6. Gold Coast
7. Adelaide
8. Western Bulldogs
“I know they're down the ladder.
“But they're starting to get a few players back. Tom Liberatore, in a few weeks' time, they won't get Sam Darcy back, but I still think they're going OK.
9. GWS Giants
10. Collingwood
“You can't underrate the value of the experience at Collingwood.
“So, I've probably got Collingwood still in my top 10.”
