Champion Data’s mid-season All-Australian side is in for 2026!

Daniel Hoyne revealed the 23 on SEN Sportsday after Round 16, with some eyebrow-raising selections leading the lines at either end.

Hoyne’s team is based on Champion Data rating points, with a specific criteria in place.

"We have always got this criteria," Hoyne said.

"Minimum two key forwards, minimum two key defenders, minimum two small defenders, minimum two small forwards. Minimum one wing - just the one.

"One mid/forward - you have to have played a decent chunk midfield and forward, we are not just going to throw you forward if you're a genuine midfield.

"Three midfielders, and then the rest are filled from the highest rated and so on."

"I say this all the time - our stuff is not everything," Hoyne said.

"Our stuff is there to eliminate the howler. So, as good as what Ryan Lester has been, if to was me picking the All-Australian side, I would be picking Aliir Aliir as the centre half-back.

"But, off the pure rating system, he comes in just below (Lester).

"The key forward position, I think, is extremely difficult this year. Josh Treacy walks in, no problem.

"I'm all ears as to who is next, because people will go Jeremy Cameron.

"I'm not picking Jake Stringer, but Jake Stringer gets in on our rating system because he is accurate in front of goal and he wins contests ahead of the footy.

"But, I'm not picking him in the All-Australian team."
