Trade talk: Magpies showing interest as Hogan’s Giants talks stall

Jesse Hogan has his head around moving to a fourth club if a new deal can’t be agreed at GWS.

Hogan’s contract negotiations have been underway for several months and despite looking positive for a long time, talks have recently stalled just as both parties had hoped to finalise an agreement.

The standoff over a two-year deal has seen a group of rival clubs, including Collingwood, show interest in the 31-year-old.

Hogan would prefer to stay at the Giants where he was an All-Australian and Coleman medal winner in 2024, but he is prepared to play for another club if the deal can’t be struck.

Hogan has had his injury battles in recent times, playing 16 games last year and only nine this year.

But as an unrestricted free agent he would come for nothing in a trade sense.

GWS are this year battling to retain skipper Toby Greene, while teammate Tom Green is being courted by the Tassie Devils ahead of their inaugural 2028 season.
