With the Warriors claiming a massive scalp against the ladder-leading Panthers, Denan Kemp has named his biggest winner from the clash.

It was quite the showing by the Wahs, who scored 22 unanswered points in the first 43 minutes of the game, which secured their 28-12 win on Friday night in front of a packed Go Media Stadium in Auckland.

One of the star performers for New Zealand was halfback Luke Metcalf.

Making his NRL return after four months since his last game, the 27-year-old was at his best, managing two tries, a try assist and an 80% conversion rate from the tee from five attempts, seeing him outscore Penrith by himself.

But despite an incredible display on the field, the former Warriors winger believes that the biggest individual winner from the match could be found in the coaching box.

“I think the biggest winner here is (Andrew) Webster,” Kemp said on SEN’s Saturday League Kick Off.

“He's won on two fronts. The first front is obviously now he has crazy depth heading into finals footy. He has the headache of either (picking) Te Maire Martin or Luke Metcalf (at halfback).

“Now I think they'll probably say to Te Maire Martin, it's a hammy injury, give it two weeks, don't rush back, we need you long-term.

“But that also gives them the luxury of giving Metcalf another opportunity.”

The win, in Kemp’s opinion, also signalled to the playing group that no person is bigger than the club, which should help maintain their strong team culture for years to come.

“But I'll tell you what win (is) even bigger for Webster,” he continued.

“So (in the) middle of the year, it gets reported that Metcalf wants to play (No.) 7.

“And basically, because he can't play 7, Te Maire Martin is playing really good, (Chanel) Harris-Tevita is playing really good (and) he says, I'm out of here.

“If you read between the lines, at least in my opinion, it looks like the Warriors probably weren't really happy with the way that all unfolded.

“And basically said, alright, you have to earn the jersey again.

“So not only has he sent an extremely strong point to his playing group that it does not matter how talented you are, if we're a little bit unhappy and we kind of feel like maybe that wasn't team first, we'll make you earn the jersey back.

“That's a huge win for Webster long-term.”

The Warriors’ Round 24 clash takes place next Saturday when they travel to the Sunshine State, where a clash with the Broncos awaits.
