Ben King has decided on his playing future, with the key forward informing Gold Coast that he'll enter free agency.

Having had his exit meeting following the Suns' disappointing season, it is believed that the 26-year-old will move back home, with Hawthorn seemingly set to secure his services.

The club have since confirmed the news on X.

"Ben King has today informed the club of his intention to explore his options as a restricted free agent during the upcoming free agency period," it read.

Having been drafted by the Suns in 2018, King played 143 games, which saw him kick 315 goals.

This saw him finish second in the Coleman Medal last year and claim third place in this year's edition of the award.

The free agency period opens on October 2.
