Hipparchus, having his second run in Australia for the Chris Waller stable after racing in France, put up an impressive effort in winning here. He settled well back in fifth place, following a good tempo and was conceding the leader at least ten lengths nearing the home turn. He then finished strongly in the centre of the track, going to the front at the 100m and then drew away to win easily. He looks a really promising stayer with a bright future in this country.
