Segenhoe Stud Woodlands Stakes (LR)
The Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained filly Debonairly scored a good win, her third win in five starts and her first a stakes level. She was smartly away and then had a good trip behind the leader (Lipizzan) before getting through on the inner to take the lead at the 200m. She then went to win decisively. Lipizzan showed good pace to lead, fought back well when challenged in the straight and held on well for a very good second after running a bold race. The David Pfieffertrained filly I Am Excited raced back in eighth place, put in a good run on straightening and made good ground for a most promising third in this Listed race on debut. The favourite Almanzora was handily placed to the home turn, looked a threat at the 200m and then battled on quite well for (1.7 lengths) fourth while African Rainbow caught the eye running on late for (2 lengths) fifth after being well back at the home turn.
