This Listed 3yo only event at 1400m saw the filly Travelling Light win freshened up having run third at G1 in her prior outing in the 1000 Guineas (1600m), so the result was entirely expected. She raced fifth then surged to lead at the 300m before hanging on to score by a long neck in 1:22.51 and record her fourth win from five outings. The winners and where they turned for home in race order were fifth (four-off the inside and three lengths from the leader), third (four-off the inside and length and a half from the leader), second (two-off the inside and half a length from the leader), fourth (four-off the inside and two lengths from the leader), led (one-off the inside and a length clear), eighth (on the fence and six lengths from the leader), sixth (three-off the inside and two lengths from the leader), ninth (four-off the inside and eight lengths from the leader), third (four-off the inside and half a length from the leader) and third (four-off the inside and half a length from the leader). Travelling Light has led up in her earlier races but later in her career showed taking a sit was an option too and this added weapon ca only stand her I good stead. Harlech ran home very strongly from last and carried 1kg more than the winning filly. He in his prior run had finished a stout closing second at G1 in the 2000 Guineas (1600m) behind the male star Catalyst, so this match up and quinella today did confirm the 3yo state of affairs. The fillies had much more depth for sure this season but the best 3yo overall was the male Catalyst. Hasstobegood ran on strongly for a close up third and the filly was capturing her second piece of Blacktype having finished second at G3 as a juvenile. She would in the following month finish third in the Listed Karaka Millions (1600m) behind Probabeel and the Australian visitor Conquerer. Bella Mente and Double Impact fought on well enough while the eventual leader My World was headed at the 300m and wilted late but was not beaten too far. This was run at a good clip and the fact it had two G1 3yo placegetters at their prior starts made this a strong Listed age group event and some form will come out of it for certain.
