The G3 fillies and mares 1400m at set weights and penalties saw a tight finish for the first three over the line with Ticket To Ride at $34 disputing the pace and leading turning for home. She hung on grimly by half a head and never really looked safe the entire run home until over the line and the judges call came through. The winners and where they turned for home in race order were twelfth (six-off the inside and four lengths from the leader), fifth (eight-off the inside and two lengths from the leader), twelfth (ten-off the inside and three lengths from the leader), led (six-off the inside and a neck in front), seventh (six-off the inside and two and a half lengths from the leader), led (on the fence and a head in front), second (four-off the inside a head from the leader), led (one-off the inside and a length in front), sixth (four-off the inside and two lengths from the leader), fifth (four-off the inside and a length and a half from the leader) and ninth (four-off the inside and three lengths from the leader). Ticket To Ride clocked 1:22.70, the best 1400m time of the day by over three and a half lengths, and was recording her eighth win in forty-six starts. Today was her first attempt at Blacktype and the 7yo mare got the invaluable breeding page boost. Belle Fascino ran on stoutly from fifth or sixth the inner on settling and she only just missed but to be fair the 6yo mare had the final 250m to run down the leader. Kiwi Ida came from well back and deep then came up ninth and widest runner turning for home before cruising up and yet to let rip at the 300m. The 5yo mare reached third at the 200m and tried hard but could not quite get there though you could not put enough on her to win at the 150m. Monza Circuito ran on well from the back coming closer in and Tinkalicious after being last away went up wide third and never gave it away bravely to be beaten just over two lengths. Emily Margaret was brave too and went up sixth wide then fourth and four-wide across the top and she was beaten less than three lengths. Livin' On A Prayer was noticed running on from ninth upon settling while Meara Mary was not disgraced at similar odds to the winner. Sweepstake was wide throughout albeit with cover and whacked away with the rest battling away or weakening a tad. Only the last finisher Shirley Maude stopped badly and she disputed the lead with the eventual winner to the home turn. The field had reasonable depth overall for a G3 fillies and mares only event and the first five home certainly all have more wins in store especially against their own sex.
