Williment Travel Desert Gold (G3)

Age: 3yo Sex: F Type: OPEN

This G3 3yo filly mile was run and won in a sedate time by Secret Allure that surged through-four off after racing back on the inner and coming through the clearly faster inside strip of the Trentham track. The bias towards on pacers and the faster inside lanes was even worse today than here last week with six of the ten winners turning for home running one, two or three and another winner trailing the leaders The winners and where they turned for home in race order were seventh (five-off and three lengths from the leader), tenth (five-off and three lengths from the leader), led (length inner), second (outer and one length off the leader), second (outer a neck from the leader), co-leader (outer), fifth (trail inner and two lengths from the leader), eighth (inner and three lengths from the leader), third (two-off and a length and a half from the leader) and second (one-off and a length from the leader). The first two races were down the bionic chute and the run on winners were not that far away turning for home and in fact no victor on the whole day came from further back than three lengths from the leader tellingly. Vast swathes of runners every race were dead on arrival at the gates if backrunners and anything angled too wide had no chance of winning whatsoever, such was the incredibly manmade biased track presented for the second week in succession. Secret Allure turned for home eighth and just three lengths from the leader before getting through to fourth at the 300m on the inner then being angled four-off and surging. The filly was second at the 200m and coming at the 100m before leading at the 50m and ended up scoring by a long neck in 1:37.1 to record her third win in twelve starts. She had won at Listed level as a juvenile and now adds a G3 against her own sex at 3yo level. Secret Allure had finished a sound fourth in the G1 1000 Guineas (1600m) in the Spring so it was no surprise to see her win this although that race since has stood up sometimes but also flopped worrying often too. Jakkalbomb dipped at the start and almost dislodged the rider and after being close up initially lost her place to be sixth the inner and then came though once into clear air to third and five-off at the 200m. She sustained a solid finish to be second at the 25m and at her first ever Blacktype race gained a G3 second. Valalie ran favourite and ran a good third but was clearly found out late being fresh up for two months. She had run a massive second in the G1 1000 Guineas when wide the whole way and came into this first up and after sitting third was sent up four-off turning for home. The filly surged and led at the 300m but the very early go for glory tactic saw her headed with 50m to go, so if let rip a 100m later may have been more potent but she will be a big improver next time out. Pullyoursocksup raced fifth then fourth and fought on okay and has come good since a maiden win three starts ago as she now has a Listed third and a G3 fourth. Lady In Lace was not too bad after racing sixth or seventh while Sentimental Miss (stablemate of the winner) was noticed fighting on from well back on settling. Savy Yong Blonk also was running on from eighth or ninth while the likely best maiden in New Zealand yet to pay a dividend on raceday in Clementina ran another good race. She settled down last in a gap but kept finding the line and is surely a winner in waiting plus her stamina looks an earning weapon yet to be fully discharged. The rest were just fair or ordinary considering the race was run and won in a very modest time overall so the pressure was almost non-existent. The two best fillies in the race ran first and third and Valalie with a run under her belt and a more patient ride would have won. Once again the other takeaway from a Blacktype fillies race is the maiden Clementina that is still to pay a dividend on raceday but has now run super at G2 and G3. Clementina will be an oh my darling of blackbooker bettors for sure.
