The three year contract Payne Haas has signed with the South Sydney Rabitohs includes various "get-out" clauses linked to Wayne Bennett and R360, according to reports.

The bombshell news that Haas will depart Brisbane at seasons end was confirmed by both clubs on Sunday with the cooling off period set to expire on February 18th.

Haas will join the Rabbitohs at season's end on a deal believed to be worth $3.6 million across three years.

His decision to move away from the Broncos sent shockwaves through the NRL world with many tipping him to have signed a one-year extension before defecting to PNG or R360.

With the rebel league delaying its inaugural season, Haas seemed destined to remain in Brisbane.

Now it has emerged he will have several options to walk away from Souths.

According to News Corp, the 26-year-old has a clause in his Rabbitohs deal that will allow him to leave should Wayne Bennett depart the club.

Moreover, it is understood he could also renege on the deal as and when the R360 gets going.

Bennett's current contract expires in 2027 with many tipping him to become the first coach of the PNG Chiefs who come into the competition in 2028 - the same year R360 is expected to launch.

SEN's Corey Parker remains at a loss when it comes to the "why" behind Haas' decision to leave the Broncos.

"I don’t know about him being unhappy, but this is from a guy who loves the Broncos and we were talking just recently about him being a potential captain of the club," Parker said on SENQ Breakfast.

"I just need to know why. Payne can do what he needs to do. But I need to know the why. Why leave a club that has won a competition?"
