"Alarm bells": The teams under the most pressure in Round 6
By SEN
SEN’s Dwayne Russell has named the five teams under the most pressure heading into Round 6.
Russell’s pressure meter ranks teams from 1-5, with number one having the most pressure on them and the most to lose heading into the round.
Check out Russell’s pressure meter below.
1 – Collingwood
vs Carlton – MCG – Thursday
“Tonight might prove to us whether Collingwood is headed for the dreaded cliff or not,” Russell told SEN's Dwayne's World.
“Collingwood's 13th, two wins and three losses right now. Lose to Carlton who are one and four and they've lost their last three.
“Lose to Carlton, and it's alarm bells. They always tell us they've got some good kids. Well, now they've got a chance to prove it.”
2 - Adelaide
vs St Kilda – Adelaide Oval – Saturday
“I've got Adelaide at two.
“I think they are really high on the pressure meter. Minor premiers last year, and they're at home on Saturday night against St Kilda.
“If Adelaide lose, they slip to two wins, four losses, and drop below the Saints - a long, long way from last year's top spot.”
3 – North Melbourne
vs Richmond - Marvel Stadium – Sunday
“This might surprise a few people, but I've actually got North Melbourne at three.
“North Melbourne are going well, but the pressure meter is all about the fallout from a loss. If North really has turned the corner, and you really are good enough to make the 10 this year, or even make the eight this year, you'd beat the winless Tigers.
“I expect them to gobble it up and beat Richmond, but I think North Melbourne deserve to be in the pressure meter for the first time for a good reason - there is an expectation, and North need to win.
“If they don't beat the winless Richmond, the fallout will be - 'here we go again'.”
4 - Richmond
vs North Melbourne – Marvel Stadium – Sunday
“I've also got the Richmond Football Club in there.
“They are winless, smashed by an average of 10 goals in the past four games. Their percentage in 18th is 20 per cent lower than Essendon's in 17th, and they have North, which had the same wins as Richmond last year.
“Richmond can get beaten, but they need to get beaten respectfully, with effort, and a see-able game plan.”
5 – GWS Giants
vs Sydney - SCG – Friday
“I've got the Giants at five.
“They've blown their premiership chances by being poor in big finals in the past few years. The Giants are currently 12th. They'll drop to two and four if they lose to the Swans at the SCG.
“Huge game for the Giants.”
