SANDOWN

Race 3 | 10. Ant

Always gets a long way back and needs speed but had zero luck last start stepping up in trip in a tougher race. Dragoon might strong them along a little if he gets an on speed partner and that’s a big help. Stepping up to the 2100 is a plus as is the slop! I don't think his from is as bad as it reads on paper and I think he will enjoy this track. Has won 4th up before and with a little pace luck he is the one they need to hold out late!

Race 5 | 11. Tan Tat Delight

I have backed her last 3 times and been scratched so I need to have a little play here even though stepping up to 1400 after 7 weeks with no trial makes me a little wary. She is classy and handles wet tracks and 3rd up works albeit the break ect. She will go back from that gate but the speed is enough (Foxsky will lead) and get her chance. Her run last start in a better fillies race had her tracking lovely for the trip but the gap worries me between runs but a little nibble due to her talent. If she doesn’t win today, she'll win next start.

Race 8 | 3. Stay Humble

Thought he was ok at Mornington 1st up where he got a little tired late. That's not surprising after a while off and only being really asked in 1 of 2 trials. Stays at the 1200 after a freshen up. Drawn well again to be in similar spot on back of speed. Ran well here last prep in a better race (Al Duca) and loves the toe into the ground. The claim from the star young jock is a win. This is my best of the day at Sandown!

CANTERBURY

Race 2 | 4. Sanctum

Could argue he should have been closer to Omolong on debut (won easily Sat) and no doubt will improve from the experience. Was fairly green and when the race was warming up he drifted back a little by daydreaming. Gets up to 1200 and the claim has him nicely weighted. HT always a Q the first time but think he is too classy here! I have multi'd him to win at $2.35 into Lady Invictus to run top 2.

Race 3 | 4. Lady Invictus

Made the step from maiden to a 72 and ran really well. I think that’s better form than the fave who turned it around last start albeit impressively. She is drawn nicely to go control it with Gatwick taking the box and her up to 1200 works better than him back from 1250. Has handled rain but not HT asked yet but shouldn’t be an issue. Both go into EQ but I like her to pinch a couple lengths at top of the straight and be too tough to catch.

Race 4 | 2. Madrina

The wetter the track the better for this girl who is the fit horse and has had a decent prep. Back to the 1100 where 2 back she chased home Glorious Moments and that is good from for this. Speed even In a small field should be ok and she will be on it either way. Claim is an added bonus and I expect her to be In the finish.

Race 5 | 9. Lipstick

I like the Bird Whistle form and she was good last start against her and I'd say the drop back a smidge in trip can only be a bonus. Easier grade now lovely weighted with the SG claim and even though it's been a while since the HT run, she handled it fine. Even with the scratchings there is still some speed so she will be able to find a trail again like last start. Has ran well here before and expect more of the same today. My best of the afternoon in Sydney.

Race 4 | 1. Castle On High (value)

Wasn’t bad first up and will find this much easier. Draws great unlike last start, will handle the heavy and has good second up form, well worth an each-way play.

CANTERBURY

Race 2 | 4. Sanctum

Was huge on debut despite being no match for his stablemate, the talented Omolong who came out and won again on Saturday and looks a nice horse. The extra trip suits and this should put Sienna in front on the apprentice title.

Race 5 | 9. Lipstick

Has been beaten by horses inform her past two and she will find this easier than that. Comes in well with the claim for Siena and she should press forward on her.
