The mare that has been fighting the good fight for Australia abroad is set for its final race at York.

A strong sense of optimism arises from Henry Dwyer’s camp as Asfoora looks to finish her career in dominant fashion.

Dwyer’s mighty mare took out this race last year by just over a length, and Dwyer hopes that her unlucky run of form can be snapped again.

Henry Dwyer joined Gareth Hall on SENTrack and RSN’s Giddy Up to discuss the farewell race.

“I know her performances don’t say it, but I reckon she has been going every bit as well this year [as last year],” he said.

“She just hasn’t had the rub of the green this year.

“She just had a lot of luck last year, and the year before.”

Asfoora has been the epitome of grit and determination in a racehorse, and a win in her swansong would be fitting.

“She just deserved to win a race this season … there is no reason she hasn’t except for bad luck.” Dwyer said.

Dwyer looks forward to this race as a chance to regain some fortune in the run.

“You probably want to draw inside to middle up at York, and if she can do that and sort of draw around the speed, then she's going to be a real live chance.” He added.

Asfoora is currently $5 with Sportsbet ahead of the Group 1 Nunthorpe Stakes.
