After an ultra-impressive first up victory in the Group 1 Winx Stakes this past Saturday, the Autumn Glow camp has an interesting decision to make.

Trainer Chris Waller, owner John Messara and champion jockey James McDonald must decide whether her grand final is a sprint or over a mile.

If it is deemed a sprint is the best choice, an Everest blockbuster would be set against reigning champion and consensus best sprinter in the world Ka Ying Rising.

On SENTrack & RSN's Giddy Up with Gareth Hall, McDonald was asked about a potential preparation to the Everest.

“It would be pretty fascinating really; it would be great fun," he said.

“She is probably the best horse in the land, there is no need to be scared of anything.

“I thought I could beat Ka Ying Rising with Lady Shenandoah or Joliestar … I’d be happy enough taking them on with Autumn Glow."

McDonald maintained however the stark challenge Ka Ying Rising would offer.

“He would be awfully hard to beat as he is the world’s best sprinter,” he continued.

“There is many options, it will be pretty cool what unfolds, and what Chris (Waller) and John (Messara) and the team makes with her.”

The camp is expected to decide this week whether they target the 1200m The Everest, or the 1600m King Charles III Stakes for the super mare.

Ka Ying Rising’s champion jockey Zac Purton joined Gareth Hall on Giddy Up to discuss the generational sprinter when the topic of Autumn Glow arose.

“She is a great racehorse, I love the tactical speed she has got, the action she has got. (She's) very talented obviously,” he said.

However, Purton humbly criticised the logic of choosing prizemoney over the preferred distance of Autumn Glow during last prep.

“Last preparation they probably chased the money a little bit and stretched her out to the Queen Elizabeth (Stakes). Obviously chasing the money here again in the Everest,” Purton suggested.

“Is that the right thing for her… maybe not.

“It does look like she is a better seven or eight furlong horse but I think she’d be a great chance in the Everest, she’d be very hard to beat.

“I wouldn’t want her to be in the race for my own benefit.”

The clash would be historic, creating the greatest build-up to an Everest ever.

“Hong Kong’s best taking on Sydney’s wonder girl,” as Hall described it.

Purton replied: “The King of the Kong versus the darling of Australia.”

Ka Ying Rising still remains a short-priced favorite for the TAB Everest at $1.55 with Sportsbet, while Autumn Glow has firmed to a second favored $5 with *Sportsbet.

The 10th edition of The Everest on October 17th is shaping up to be an unprecedented spectacle.
