Former premiership coach Adam Simpson has revealed his official Premiership Table, ranking teams most likely to find success in September based on a range of in depth criteria.

Comparing statistics for each top 10 side, Simpson only considered data from games against other top 10 opposition, narrowing down to numbers that only apply against the best.

Looking at a number of different categories, Simpson ranked each team from 1-10, with the lowest scores favoured.

The categories are as follows:

• Points for & against
• Scores per inside 50
• Turnover differential
• Stoppage differential
• Contested possession differential
• Inside 50 differential
• Availability

1 - Brisbane (26)

“They’ve got five things out of the six that are top four.

“Even their injuries they’re ranked second. They’ve come from the clouds.”

2 - Geelong (26)

“The only thing they’re a little bit skew-whiff with is availability. They’ve got a few players out.

“From a data point of view, Brisbane and Geelong are the top two teams.”

3 - Fremantle (27)

“Points for they’re fifth. Contested possession they’re sixth.

“They’re one off the top two.”

4 - Hawthorn (33)

“Against the top 10 teams they’re a better side.

“I know they’re fourth on then ladder but they’re fourth in this mix.

“The only thing they’re really poor at is stoppage clearance differential. They’re eighth out of 10.

“They’re number one for availability.”

5 - Melbourne (43)

“They’re 10th for points against, that’s what’s pushed them back.

“Everything else is pretty healthy.

“They’re ninth at turnover differential but they’re ok at most of the other things.”

6 - Sydney (47)

“This is with the fab five playing. They are ranked down the ladder a little bit.

“Scores from inside 50, they are second last, and their availability is going to be an issue now.”

“They are equal second for availability and third for points against, but everything else is in the bottom half of the 10.”

Eq.7 - Carlton (48)

“How much of this is early in the year? I could've gone a bit deeper and done since Fraser's taken over.

“They are number one in contested possession differential. If they bring that, they are in for a fight.”

9 - Collingwood (68)

“Collingwood are 10th at scores per inside 50, ninth for scores for, ninth for stoppages, 10th for contested possessions.

“They are ranked second last.”

10 - Western Bulldogs (71)

“What has happened in the last six or seven weeks and what they've done with their style of play is probably not reflected in this grouping.

“They are 10th at stoppage differential, 10th at points for and ninth at points against.”
