Expert form analyst Mark Hunter has taken a look at the Group 1 Memsie Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on Saturday.

He has analysed every horse in the race, runner by runner, and believes he has found us the winner!

Hunter believes there are three main hopes in this race – Jimmysstar, Angel Capital and Beiwacht – but he is with the favourite, Jimmysstar, referencing his elite trials heading into this Group 1.

“I think Jimmysstar is the one to beat. I just don't think it came up last campaign,” Hunter told SENTrack & RSN’s Giddy Up.

“It just had to be hunted along to chase, it never travelled well, never trucked into races. He still ran consistently, but I think ran below his best.

“The way it's come back here in trialling, it's just smoking home, so it just looks like it's come back better now.

“It's got a little tricky barrier (8). It's got Beiwacht inside it, who's probably your leader, and it's got Mr Brightside outside it, who will, I would imagine, belt forward and be somewhere near the front.

“So Jimmy, if he can jump, he can roll across with Beiwacht, let Mr Brightside go, he can lob first four in an absolutely perfect spot, and if he lobs there I would think the $4.40, if you're happy to bet each-way is a great bet.”

When looking at the Chris Waller-trained Beiwacht’s chances, Hunter admitted he will be hard to beat as well.

“Nash (Rawiller) might take total control of this race. If he jumps well, which I think he would, there doesn't look to be a stack of pressure for the front,” continued Hunter.

“I can just see him controlling it, dictating. 1400m is perfect for this horse. It's going to take a stack of beating.”

And finally, the expert analyst believes the Yulong-owned Angel Capital will have a mighty hope as well.

“I think the only time Jimmysstar and Angel Capital have met, where they've both had every chance, was a race at Caulfield where Angel Capital followed Jimmy into the race and couldn't get any closer than a length. Other times Angel Capital's mostly been unlucky,” started Hunter on the stallion.

“I think he's got a great hope. He's not a horse you can punch forward, so he's going to be giving them a start and need his usual luck, but I think he's got a great hope.”

Hunter also provided a YES or NO rating for each horse in the Group 1.
