Friday best bets from Luke & Pfitzner (04/09)

The lads have taken a close look at Mornington & Wyong in a bid to find the family some winners.

MORNINGTON

Race 2 | 2. Mykindakandy

Resumes gelded after a couple of good jump outs and he does normally run well fresh. I like the 1200 metre kick off and from that gate at Mornington I think it'll work for him to be able to sit off the speed and have last crack. Little give in the ground works to his advantage and in an open race with a few unknowns I think this horse can go very close.

Race 4 | 10. Queen Serena

This girl looks to have a bucket load of talent and her trials both recently and early doors suggest she's got a fair bit of speed. The gate is a little tricky but I don't think it'll be a concern as she will go forward I think and be on speed. They have taken her time with her and albeit Mornington can challenge a newbie as a debut track I think she has some class and will be very hard to beat.

Race 7 | 4. Coronationhercules

His runs this prep have been really good in good races and you could argue he should have gone very close last start when Hanford a couple of times in the straight. There's going to be some speed which I like cause he will be back but with clear galloping room and the ability to unleash I think he's going to be the man late. Blinkers go on which I think will work and if it gets any luck (i.e cover) he'll win. He's my best of the day at Mornington.

WYONG

Race 3 | 4. Portico

Forget his last run last prep in a race much better than this and on a heavy track he did not handle. Has trialled up really well and looks like he's come back even better. TC stays on after the trials and no doubt will be positive form the gate. Soft drying track a big win and in this class he will take a mountain of beating.

Race 4 | 5. Ausbred Hed'N'Tail

Blinkers go on from the perfect gate and another crack at the 1350 after a couple of good runs this prep. He presents fitter again, the two races he has been in this prep are better than this and the good track conditions are perfect. At $2.50 he is a short as you'd want to back him at but there's a reason for it and the setup is perfect.

Race 6 | 5. Elliptical

I've backed this bloke a couple of times this prep with place and more places bets but I think today he can absolutely win. The 2100 metres is perfect, he is well weighted, and his run last start behind Boniface was really good. Good track is nice but he will need some luck as he'll get back from inside gate but he has a star jockey in form in the saddle and I think he is an incredibly good play!

Race 7 | 1. Oh Diamond Lil

I'm backing this girl in this race because she will be on speed and that will be much more beneficial than the favourite who's the best horse in the race but will be back. She runs well first up, she is trialled well, she loves the good track, RK's a superstar and even though there is some speed she will make her own going forward. She does have to carry the weight and the pressure up front might play into Modella's hands when she runs on but this is a speed map bet and I'm with the Diamond. Modella goes into the quaddie as she is best horse but needs luck to catch them.
