Cam Luke
BALLARAT
Race 2 | 6. Nialah
Back to the 1400 metres for the first time this prep and last time we did see him at this distance he actually ran again a much better race that was won by Blind Raise. He will go forward and from that gate have a very efficient run in holding the fence. I wouldn't have hated a little bit of rain but a good track won't stop him. Third up and the fitness should be peaking to be very hard to beat here.
Race 3 | 14. Star Je Taime
This girl finally gets to the mile third up and it's a distance I think she's been looking for the entire time. She had no luck resuming in a tougher race than this where the formers held up in town but she noticeably improved last start and she'll take another step today. She is drawn perfectly to be 1-1 in the run and I think she'll enjoy the spacious track compared to what she did see last start. She's the girl with the improvement and I think that's enough here in a pretty open race.
Race 4 | 12. Scoville
Race day experience plus the perfect gate and the rise to 1200 are all a great mix for this girl to run well second time at the races. She chased home a horse on debut who is in the market tomorrow in a really good race. She will be promoient in the run (OSL Celestial Blue) or holding the fence in front. GT works for her and with the natural improvement she will be very hard to beat!
Race 5 | 13. Ocean's Blue
Had zero luck resuming and was there to be beaten late. Gets to the 1200 today and a bigger track both will work but again a little luck from the gate will be needed. I think the fast deck might play to her favour as well. If she gets a little luck un running, she'll be too good here and we don’t need to take odds on this time. $2.50 feels right from the gate!
Race 8 | 7. Perfect Night
Getting up in trip and third up to the 1600 is perfect today. What's maybe a little plain last start but her third up form is much better than her second up form and I think that'll be proven today. She is drawn perfectly to have the most economical run and in an open race she will be very hard to beat as she gets further into her prep and up in distance.
SCONE
Race 4 | 3. Rolling Home
I just don't think this race has any major depth to it and he will be stripping fitter after he won on resumption. There is a little bit of speed in the race but from that gate I think he'll be able to find the fence and dictate. 1300 metres is his wheelhouse and last when he got up a little bit in trip he chased home Tron Bolt and that's really good form for a race of this calibre. He is a little short to back outright but he is one out in my EQ.
Race 5 | 6. Halcyon Belle
I am taking the $1.30 on here with this girl who debuted in a race that is held up incredibly well form wise. They have taken their time to help her develop and judging by her two trials she has come back in really good order. Who only run was on a good track so the firm deck will help her today. She's drawn better than the favourite and she will go forward and put herself in the race. The favour also resumes and his child well came out of a really tough race on debut and deserves to hold market favouritism but that price is poison and I'm with HB to get her.
Mick Gannon
BALLARAT
Race 8 | 5. Cushioned
Third up mile and races back against her own sex. She can land closer in transit now fitter and should be the strongest late.
SCONE
Race 4 | 7. Admire Me
Trialled up well for the new stable, two favs are no stars and she maps to settle WTM at a slow speed can out sprint them.
CANBERRA
Race 3 | 11. Lord Wootton
Was wayward in running third at Hawkesbury last start, finds an easier race, gets blinkers and should lead these up, catch me if you can.
