Adaptra Southern Cross Stakes (G3)
Heart Testa put in a game effort after racing four wide without cover on the pace throughout. He was nursed into the race in the centre of the track before battling on gamely to score a narrow but good win, especially considering the work he did in the run. Driefontein was away well and showed good early pace to hold the fence. She contested the lead with Happy Galaxy before taking the lead at the 300m. She appeared to be tiring on the worse part of the track inside the final 200m, but to her credit she fought back strongly to grab second on the line. A sound effort by a very game mare. Territory raced in fourth position on the back of the leaders. He cornered three wide into the clear and raced up looking a winning chance. He could not match the turn of foot of the winner to his outside but battled on gamely for a close third. Destiny’s Kiss ran a great race first up from a spell. He settled down in last position on the fence before travelling well into the race but was still last on turning for home. He picked up really well between runners and finished on well for a fast finishing fourth, a very good effort.
