The winner at Listed level over 1200m was Tavi Mac, the odds on favourite ($1.80) and he scored at home by over a length and a quarter after racing fifth the inner until near the home turn. Once angled off he drove through second and led at the 300m then drew away the run home on what was heavy footing to record 1:12.51 for the 1200m. The winners and where they are turning for home were second (six-off the inside and a neck from the leader), third (five-off the inside and half a length from the leader), fourth (ten-off the inside and length and a half from the leader), fourth (nine-off the inside and two and a half lengths from the leader), third (ten-off the inside and a neck from the leader), second (five-off the inside and a neck from the leader), led (six-off the inside and two lengths from the leader), second (ten-off the inside and a length from the leader) and ninth (twelve-off the inside and four and a half lengths from the leader). Tavi Mac was recording his ninth win in just fourteen starts and he has only missed the top the top three twice, with a sixth beaten just over a length at 1200m in a Benchmark72 and sixth at G1 under WFA beaten two and a half lengths. The 5yo gelding is not very big but ultra-consistent and he has won on all types of footing so is very versatile too. He is in fact unbeaten on slow and heavy footing and today was a soft kill under 60kg for the gelding. Second home was Burgundy Belle, which caried 7kg less and ran on solidly after being last away and then moving up wide to fourth the outer at the 800m and then being steered wider turning for home. She reached second at the 300m and chased in vain thereafter. A distant third home was Deerfield that sat second the outer and challenged across the top before leading turning for home only to be headed by the winner and runner up at the 300m. He carried 58.5kg after a claim so had his chance. A distant fourth home and running on into a gap at the 200m from a clear last was Campari and she ended up over seven and a half lengths from the winner. Fifth home and well beaten was What A Smasher that raced third the inner and stopped fast to be beaten over fifteen lengths. Last home was Rock 'N' Affair, which led up and once headed to be third turning for home and stopped fast to be beaten over twenty lengths. She did not like the heavy footing at all. Tavi Mac is not very big but is very brave and his will to compete is shown for all to see in his superb record. Burgundy Belle ran a sound second and has now recorded two Listed placings in her last three starts and both have come behind Tavi Mac. Deerfield ran an honest race but was almost five lengths from the winner while Campari was an honest fourth albeit beaten over seven and a half lengths. The winner is lethal on all types of footing and at his only G1 at WFA outing ran a very honest race. He has a lot more wins in store and WFA will pose no problems either looking at his record so far.
