This G3 mile for 3yo fillies saw an impressive winner in Amarelinha, which was having just her third race start and first ever at Blacktype. The filly was eighth and wide early before being eased back over to be tenth midrace and then she was sent up fast wide nearing the home turn and surged to lead at the 250m. Amarelinha won by over a length and a quarter and has a lot more success in store judging by her win today in 1:35.04. The winners and where they came from on the home turn were seventh (four-off the inside and three lengths from the leader), seventh (seven-off the inside and eight lengths from the leader), seventh (three-off the inside and three lengths from the leader), fourth (six-off the inside and two lengths from the leaders), third (four-off the inside and a length from the leader), third (five-off the inside and half a length from the leader), eighth (eight-off the inside and three lengths from the leader), seventh (eight-off the inside and three lengths from the leader), eighth (eight-off the inside and three lengths from the leader) and ninth (seven-off the inside and three and a half lengths from the leader). This filly would be unbeaten but for a nose defeat on debut left-handed and she has a sparking turn of foot so can make up make up many lengths rather quickly. Fleetwood Maca ran a game second after sitting second the outer and leading turning for home. Moana, a maiden still, ran her fourth placing in six starts and got a G2 third on her resume today after racing fourth the outer and reaching third at the 200m. Needle And Thread ran on well late after racing close behind the leader early and ending up fifth the inside midrace. The Australian bred filly was a held up eighth turning for home but ran on well between runners to finish a strong fourth. Fifth home was another maiden filly in Arancia that settled back wide then improved deep across the top and the came up fifth turning for home. The effort told but she still fought on to finish fifth and was beaten less than three and three-quarter lengths. Slave To Love was hampered at the start and recovered to race midfield the inner then got held up near the home turn. Her effort was quite okay. Her stablemate Helsinki ran seventh beaten four lengths and the still maiden ran at the massive unders today of second favorite at $5.90 as she fought on after racing eighth or ninth mostly. Sweet Anna was next home and after getting back on the inner worked off across the top and came wide at the 200m. Camarosa was next home beaten less than five lengths after being eased back to the rear group early and being wide midrace and across the top to the home turn. The rest got beat more than five lengths and as far as over eighteen lengths. Cheaperthandivorce finished tenth but ran home well from last midrace and she had no luck the run home either. De La Terre raced fifth wide then third wide before going up second turning in then weakened to finish eleventh so her run is best forgiven. The rest were either outclassed or never copped the footing or found trouble early on in the race. The winner was in a different league to these fillies and has more wins in store and to prove it the fourth finisher today Needle And Thread would bolt in here on New Years Day at G2 over 2000m. There are a few in this that will keep namely Cheaperthandivorce and Sweet Anna plus even De La Terre and Slave To Love plus obviously Needle And Thread. This was apart from the winner not a genuine G2 field of fillies even though several in this have decent scope.
